The monthly trapping sessions at ponds in the Inner North and in West Belconnen has been going extremely well, thanks to the outstanding volunteer support the project has received.
So far well over 100 turtles have been caught, measured, marked and released at our eight study ponds over the past five months. It has been very encouraging that the monitoring activities do raise very a strong public interest. Passers-by stop to inquire, share a turtle story, get involved and to learn about our local turtle populations and about the habitat they life in. Fieldwork will be finalised in March, so better hurry up if you would like to join one of our sessions!
